Both loved the experience, too. I had many relatives who graduated from Murray State before I attended.

The music program is incredibly difficult. If you’re coming here for music, you better be prepared because it’s a slippery slope. Probably one of the hardest working majors here. You’re on a heavy schedule and all of your classes are picked out for you for four years. They’re all required too. Most of the professors are alright and helpful but others are not. Some of them don’t care if you succeed or not, they’d be happy to see you fail. Good luck to anyone wanting to do music, you’re gonna need it.

Don't do music here! Absolutely one of the worst music program I have ever been apart of. They constantly push music students to hard. Everything is required, keyboarding, aurial skills, and anything else! You have to do everything they want you to do. If you're a vocal major, it's even worse. Not only do you have to take keyboarding classes, in which the professors are too hard and rude like Matthew Gianforte, you also have to do vocal lessons and piano lessons that YOU have to pay for and that aren't helpful at all. You have to do hour long sessions with these people and it's really expensive. One of the rudest and fakest vocal teachers is Dr. Crawford. If you get her, you might as well run because she is one of the worst teachers there. You also are given four songs each semester that you have to sing almost every week in order to do well in your "vocal lesson" class. Then, when mid terms start, you have to sing three and you aren't even prepared because meeting with your vocal teacher and pianist doesn't help you because they aren't helpful, and if anything, they're rude and just like to sit and criticize you. So, if you're going to go to Murray for music, I HIGHLY suggest that you don't. It's terrible. They push students too hard where you don't have time to do anything and your whole schedule for the next four years is packed with required class that you can't get out of. It's absolutely terrible and I can't wait to transfer or drop-out. This school makes me want to kill myself.

I worked as a lab instructor in the biology department while trying to get my Masters degree. I sent my sons there, one in electromechanical engineering technology and pre-dentistry, and the younger one in computer science.

Come here! Love the smaller class sizes, especially for upper level classes where it really counts. Lots of opportunities to get involved in research and local professionals that love volunteers from the university. A close knit community that is great to be in. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a smaller school that still can offer great opportunities for students.

I completed my undergrad here from 2012-2014. I absolutely love this place, and it will always have a piece of my heart. The staff is amazing, and the level of instruction you receive is phenomenal.
